Hello and welcome back to school! A big welcome to those who signed up at our table at the Marian Eucharistic Conference. Before meeting for the first time this year, I would just like to point out a couple events coming in the near future:
Rosaries to End the Culture of Death: Fridays
Rosaries said at the Christ the King Chapel at the St. Paul’s College have begun again for the school year. For those who are Christian, you are welcome to join us in our prayer movement for the sanctity of life on Fridays at 3pm. As we are not religious group, we do not want to impose any moral strain, but for those who feel called, even if you come at least once and lead a mystery, many lives and souls can be saved.
Student Group Recruitment Week: Monday, Sept. 19 – Friday, Sept. 23
This will take all week, however we will only have a table on Wednesday, Sept. 21 and Thursday, Sept. 22 due to the availability of the executives. You may come by and say hello, or stay a moment and help us recruit and answer some questions on prolife. Please remember we are trying to promote the culture of life in a pro-positive way; if you do not think you will be able to talk to passerbys calmly or with finesse, you may leave it to the executives. It will be held in the Campo in University Centre (area in front of Tim Hortons) from 9am-4pm. For those interested in committing a particular time to help out, we do have t-shirts for you to wear. Just let us know what time you will be available for and your shirt size. 🙂
40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil: September 28 – November 6
From 8 AM to 8 PM for 40 days, volunteers will be pacifistically picketing in front of the HSC Women’s Centre on 735 Notre Dame Ave. You may come at any time of your leisure, however our group plans on heading downtown after the rosaries to join in the prayer vigil for an hour. If you have any more questions about this event, there is more information found at: http://www.40daysforlife.com/winnipeg/ Also, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Silent No More Awareness Campaign: Tuesday, Oct. 4
If you have not heard of this campaign before, you may read more about it here: http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/. There will be a few speakers coming in to talk about their abortion experiences and their regrets on having gone through it. As the physical and emotional pain of abortion will be exposed, it is also presented as a healing medium. It will be held in the Fireside Lounge in the University Centre (beside the florist) from 11:30am-1:00pm.
There are a couple banquets coming up held by some prolife groups such as Life’s Vision and Campaign Life Coalition which we will give you more information during a meeting that will most likely be held after Silent No More. We will notify you once more once a definite date has been set for the meeting.
In the meantime, you pay take a visit to our new website, https://umscl.wordpress.com/ and let us know what you think of it! Any suggestion/comments/constructive criticism are always welcome!
Yours in communion for Life,
Secretary-Treasurer, on behalf of the Executives
